A painting exists without communication.
A painting exists because a painter exists.
A painting exists for the others only because they perceive it as a painting. (virtual or not).
A painting is a passive trace which requires active discovery. It has to be assimilated to a question, not to an answer. And the question is different for each receptor as receptors are different.
Each receptor believes to understand the message of the painting. Reality is that they have created the message (question or answer). The painter becomes the catalyst and the receptor the actor.
This is true for any type of Art. The beauty of Art resides in the creativity of the people perceiving it.
The communication is exactly the contrary
Bill Clinton is a communicator, Pablo Picasso or Socrates were artists: they were asking questions. Bill Clinton is giving answers, the ones that the majority of the Americans expect.
Note: Sorry for my approximative english. I am an english-illetrate-french-speaking-painter-living-on-the French Riviera.
